  1. Owen Hart was one of the most underrated wrestler of all time. He was a true total package.

  2. So many memories….Owen was the master of kicking legs out from under legs, ripping pink shades, and rocking awesome dayglo Zubaz with suspenders. Who could forget Owen Hart contracting Bob Orton disease back in 1996 and being forced to wear a cast for months on end?

  3. My favorite Owen moments are pretty standard here at SG. The interview with Bret after the Hart Bros re-united after the holidays and challenged the Quebeccers, Kicking Brets leg outta his leg, trying to grow a beard and join the Nation…etc

One thing that he made famous for me and my friends was the slingshot over the top rope to enter the ring. To this day, whenever anyone bounds over a rope/ bar by gripping the handle, I still call it, “Doing the Owen”.

    RIP

  4. I think I’ve told this story before, but I had third-row seats to a house show in Des Moines in 1993, and Owen was in the first match. He was the only guy I slapped hands with. He also used to do that kinda cheesy, modest “Number One!” signal with his fingers. His opponent had Owen in a chinlock, and he looked at me, so I gave him the “Number One!” motion. He hulked up and won the match. I take a little credit for that 🙂

His commentary at King of the Ring 1996 was hilarious… his promos throughout 1994 were great (“Happy Father’s Day, DAD!”), and of course had great matches with Bret, tagging with British Bulldog against Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels, the Legion of Doom and others.

  5. I had nothing against Owen, but I’m curious if he would be as beloved by the fans if the accident had never happened. I was relatively new to wrestling when he was around, but I just didn’t LOVE him the way that everyone now claims they did.
