Stunt Granny Review of @PRIMEWrestling #Wrestlelution 5: An Enduring Spirit

N8 Mattson wonders why you didn’t go to or buy Wrestlelution.

Dan & Kevin are back to talk about Wrestlelution 5.  Dan watched on iPPV and Kevin went to the event, how did these experiences differ? It all started with Kevin telling Dan by text that the event was starting late which they didn’t mention online. Did Dan have any problems aside from that with the stream like Ring of Honor has had? The guys started in the middle of the show talking about the inadvertent ring breaking during the Rhino vs. Jason Bane match. They then reboot and start by talking about the show from start to finish. Did the show start with a crowd pleasing, high energy match with Michael Facade taking on Jason Gory in a Casket Match for the TV Title? Zach Gowen taking on Gregory Iron was the next marquee match. Did they deliver in the ring or with their story? “The Megastar” Marion Fontaine finally got to finish his feud with Justin LaBar by beating Aaron Draven. Who was the “Ace In The Hole” that Aaron Maguire talked about? Dan & Kevin get around to talking about the match itself between Rhino and Jason Bane. Did it deliver? The barber delivered a hair cut to Bobby Shields in his Hair vs. Hair with Bobby Beverly. Did Nicki Valentino steal the match even though he was only guest referee? Matt Cross taking on Petey Williams was supposed to be the highlight of in ring action, so was it? The main event was Johnny Gargano challenging for the PRIME Wrestling Title against Jimmy Jacobs. Did it cap off a long event due to delays? Find out that and more when you click on the link below!

Tyler Reks is gone from WWE

Interweb Marketing Bro

Tyler Reks asked for and was granted his release from WWE Wednesday. Yup…….um……so…..

You may remember Tyler for his incredible beard and long dreadlocks. If you blinked you may have missed the recent pairing of Curt Hawkins and Reks. If you closed your eyes you would have missed them strip on Smackdown. Other than that what else is there to say?

Reks, via his Twitter, said he asked for his release due to something called family commitments. He didn’t like the fact he would be missing any moments with his newborn daughter.  It’s the same typical garbage parents use to justify being a quitter. Aww, Dad has to leave the house for a while and make money to support you and mommy.  I could be sitting at home changing diapers and getting bitched at cause mom is too fat still from her pregnancy weight to help with chores or as I like to call it, women work.

So don’t look for Tyler Reks in TNA anytime soon since he also owns a an Internet Marketing Company which is kind of strange because it means he has a backup plan and in wrestling that is near unheard of. -Jeremy

Alex Shelley Signs With The WWE. Is Something More In Store?

Over the weekend, Prowrestling.net reported that Alex Shelley was signed by WWE. They thought this would open the door for the WWE to sign other TNA talent such as Matt Morgan who has burned through his dates in TNA and is currently sitting out. That part could be true but there may be something else afoot.

According to my sources though, the WWE is preparing itself to start a cruiser weight program when or if the WWE Network ever gets off the ground. It would explain the alleged signing of Johnny Gargano back in July. The only problem with this theory is that the WWE still doesn’t have a cable carrier for it or a launch date since they pushed it back on April 1st. In fact a WWE Network hasn’t been mentioned at all.

The same sources named another possible addition to the cruiser weight roster and one who is familiar to WWE Tough Enough, Matt Cross. He’d have a built in story line to start off the programming. The WWE could further cherry pick from PRIME Wrestling and nab Bobby Beverly, Bobby Shields and Louis Lyndon. Those three would need some work but the WWE doesn’t have enough talent for that type of division.

In house, they could move Cody Rhodes to a cruiser weights because they’re lost on what to do with him right now. He could even drag along his current feud, Sin Cara. Please, we’re begging you to get him, his mood lighting and his slightly less botch-tacular move set off of our televisions. His former body double, Hunico, could use more TV time too. Just to single out all of the Latino wrestlers all at one time like any good WWE writer, Epico & Primo along with the lovely Rosa Mendes would be fine additions. Yoshi Tatsu could add another level of xenophobia to the division so it isn’t taken up by those dirty Mexicans. Evan Bourne, if he could stop smoking pot like he’s Kevin Smith, could be a force in the division. Justin Gabriel and Michael McGillicutty are the forgotten members of Nexus but they’d fit into the division too. Tyson Kidd got a push for a hot second when the Money In The Bank PPV came around but he could move up a couple of rungs (Wokka wokka) in this type of environment.

Do I trust the WWE to do this much thinking about their programming? Not for a split second. I’d feel great for the hard working guys, especially the ones from PRIME Wrestling, to get some extra exposure and hopefully money that they deserve working for the WWE. -Kevin

@PRIMEWrestling – #Wrestlelution 5: An Enduring Spirit

The ring went boom in the Rhino vs Jason Bane match.

Wrestlelution 5: An Enduring Spirit was a fine event but getting back to my place at 10:30 PM made it a little hard to do a write up about it. There were two elements that led to a late arrival back in Columbus. The first part was that the event was supposed to start at 3:00 PM. Luckily for myself and my girl, since we showed up at 3:05,  they didn’t start the event until about 3:20. The second problem is pictured above. I’ll get to that when I talk about the match between Rhino and Jason Bane.

I’m hoping to post pictures from the event on Facebook later because the girl was taking pictures during the majority of the event until her camera died for the main event. Maybe I’ll even post Dan Kuester’s pictures from last year’s event. It didn’t dawn on me until we got there that this was her first live wrestling event. She’d never seen a wrestling crowd for real, so that was very entertaining. I had bought us tickets to the first two rows which ended up putting us in the view of the hard camera off to one corner of the ring. If you got the iPPV, as Dan did, or you catch some of the matches on SportsTime Ohio, look for the guy with the brownish Hawaiian shirt on.

Jason Gory took on Michael “The Bomber” Facade for the TV Title. I thought it was a good match to start with because it gave us some violence since it was a casket match. Facade is also pretty popular and signs posters with his spray paint so he gets the crowd involved. Gory was in a ridiculous Freddy Krueger outfit that even had striped pants just like Freddy’s sweater. They also billed Gory at 185. If he weighs that, my scale is lying to me because he isn’t the same weight as me. Facade is normally a very sloppy wrestler but he cut down on his mistakes and delivered a good match with Gory. Facade retained his title which is good since he’d been gunning for it for the past year and a half. No reason to yank the rug out from him like TNA would have done since he’d won the belt only a couple of months ago.

Louis Lyndon took on Benjamin Boone next. This match received very little build up so it was hard to get invested in it. They did fight against each other in tag teams last year so they had some back story. Lyndon surprised me because I don’t remember him being that tall. It continues to confuse me as to why Flip Kendrick got the deal with TNA and not him. Mattson did good crowd work during the match. It was a solid match that ended with a roll up by Lyndon for the three count. I feel bad for Boone who had worked himself into good shape then just keeps losing. I hope he gets a better direction next year especially since he’s one of the few big men in the league.

Kirst fought Matthew Justice. This match was another one with very little build up. It looked like Justice was going to join the Dead Wrestling Society the last time he was on TV but that was not the case. As a whole, Justice has not been on TV much since his return from WWE Developmental. The end of the match saw Kirst kick out of a Death Valley Driver then roll up Justice less than a minute later with a hand full of tights, which I couldn’t see. (I think the ref was in the way.)

Zach Gowen against Gregory Iron was up next in an inspirational story vs an inspirational story match. I thought this story had some flaws in it because Gowen came into the league to help Iron against the Dead Wrestling Society but ended up joining forces with the other heel faction in the Sons of Michigan. The idea that Iron “stole” Gowen’s thunder for an inspirational story doesn’t seem right either. I’m pretty sure you relinquish that when you admit to substance abuse problems that you just overcame. That aside, it still didn’t make much sense to turn on Iron this quickly. The match was good. The ending helped wrap up a story that made no sense. The referee was going to allow a blatant cane shot by Gowen, who passed up the opportunity. The hesitation allowed Iron to hit the Destabiler aka the Stunner for the win. N8 Mattson attacked Iron after the match and was going to let Gowen make up for his earlier mistake but he decided to attack Mattson and Benjamin Boone who was holding Iron back. A feel good hug came after wards but it was a confusing story arc.

Kevin’s Blog: Almost Live, Definitely Half Assed Review of @WWE #Raw

I was supposed to have a review up of Wrestlelution for PRIME Wrestling. I have my explanation for it’s tardiness and at least half of the review typed up. Unfortunately, it’s not clogging up my DVR like Raw. So this article is going up first. Let’s roll.

I didn’t even have time at the office today to read the results from Summerslam. So Brock made HHH to tap? Nice of Paul Heyman to give us this info. I still don’t understand why Brock isn’t using the mic more. I might have missed why they were paging Scott Armstrong. Oh, it’s to make sure the rules were followed. Good job, nice baby swerve. The Brockdagon. Hilarious. They have done a good job of, for lack of a better term, rebuilding Lesnar. Even my woman knows after watching three months of wrestling that HHH is retired already any way.

OK, so CM Punk won two matches at Summerslam? Boy, I should really read that review. For some reason, R Truth & Kofi Kingston give out dolls for some reason. Why weren’t they giving out their own dolls? Sin Cara is their partner. They are taking on the Pupu Platter of Cody Rhodes & the Prime Time Players. Mitchell Cool had to be told a bark wasn’t for the Florida Gators. What a dumb ass. I’ve heard of barking spiders but that’s about farting. If he’d ever watched a football game, he’d have seen the Gator chomp. Commercial break.

I’m not digging Kofi going with the Superman colors. He is matching R Truth at least. At least Lawler made fun of Cool a bit for calling it the Q bark. Cody is dumb again. The mask costs him a third match. The match was the usual six man tag. I hope the Players can get a win if they’re going to keep them in the title hunt. Matt Striker reminds us that he’s still a douche. I forgot that David Otunga was in that train wreck of a movie with Halle Berry. He looks really odd without a goat. AJ gives him a match. Punk gets to approve his next opponent with her approval. It has potential.

WWE Studios, Warner Bros. teaming to make Scooby-Doo movie… Kevin will love it

#ThingsAWDidntTweet Hey @CMPunk Scooby-Doo gonna take a bathroom break on yo face!

According to Prowrestling.net (and news outlets around the ‘net), WWE Studios is teaming with Warner Bros. to create an animated Scooby-Doo movie about a “WrestleMania mystery,” using the voices of WWE superstars Triple H, John Cena, Kane, The Miz, Brodus Clay, Santino Marella, Sin Cara, AJ, and Vince McMahon. I’ve read a few articles lamenting the absolute demise of the Attitude Era and how this movie signifies the ringing of the bell on a better era in wrestling history. Well, you know what? All good things must come to an end, and WWE would be damn stupid not to make this partnership happen. Do you realize what Scooby-Doo appearances did for the Harlem Globetrotters? They used to be the Harlem Harlemtrotters. Sonny and Cher? Skyrockets on their asses. Five-year-olds buying their records on a daily basis.

This is big news, not just for the pre-K kids in the crowd, but for the pot heads, too. It’s no secret that Scooby and Shaggy smoked weed (well, Shaggy smoked it and then blew it in Scooby’s face, like any good pet owner would), so I could totally see Warner Bros. leveraging their media ownership to give Adult Swim the broadcast rights to this movie in 2015, when we come back around to another era of violence and curse words. I mean, that is, assuming the movie is the least bit smart and funny, which it won’t be if WWE writes it. Even bigger of a travesty is if Evan Bourne doesn’t make some sort of appearance, M I RITE? -Eric

Stunt Granny Interview Series: @FairToAar Aaron Maguire of @PRIMEWrestling

Aaron Maguire at Wrestlelution 4 as a guest time keeper.

Aaron Maguire is back again to promote Wrestlelution 5: An Enduring Spirit. Just like the Undertaker, he’s keeping his streak of appearances on this podcast alive. One streak he wants to break is his clients losing at Wrestlelution. Will his man “The Megastar” Marion Fontaine beat “Omega” Aaron Draven? Will Maguire get the chance to slap the goatee off of Justin LaBar? What trick does he have up his sleeve for this match? After previewing his own match, we move on to run down most of the card. Maguire answers whether Bobby Beverly or Bobby Shields will look better bald. Will Nicki Valentino call it down the middle as the special guest referee? Matt Cross takes on Petey Williams in their first ever singles match. Does Maguire think they’ll deliver in the ring?  Rhino has delivered in rings all over the world, but will be be able to deliver against Jason Bane who is 4-0 at Wrestlelution? Or is it 5-0? Last year, Bane delivered against Krimson. With Jayme Mason now in Krimson’s corner, will he be able to defeat Matt Mason? Krimson’s disciple Gory will take on Michael Facade in a casket match? Will this be the most brutal match Wrestlelution has ever seen? A heart breaking story already is Zach Gowen taking on Gregory Iron. Will the One Legged Wonder come out on top now that he’s aligned himself with N8 Mattson & The Sons of Michigan? Last but not least, Maguire talks about the main event match for the PRIME Wrestling Title between “The Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs and Johnny Gargano. Who will come out of Jacobs Pavilion with the title? Find out that and more when you click on the link below!
