Jeremy’s Monthly Movies for May 2013

movie_nightIron Man 3- May 3, 2013

Look Iron Man 2 isn’t nearly as bad as people made it out to be. Yeah it had its flaws but then it also led us right to The Avengers so all is forgiven. The previews have been coming fast and in abundance an each one looks more badass then the next. This is the official kickoff movie for the summer season and looks like it will be well worth the money. I have the tickets already.

The Great Gatsby- May 10, 2013

I have no idea what The Great Gatsby is about and I know I should but whatever. The previews look to be the usual mess of visual and music from Baz Lurhman and that is a good thing. This is clearly geared toward gay men and women as those re the only people I have heard mention this flick as a must see. No shame in that as it will drag in a larger audience this way. It will also benefit from make good ticket sales for men dragging their women to see Iron Man 3 the week before. Possible theatre movie but not set in stone.

Peeples-  May 10, 2013

First off I am not black that I know of; so I understand this movie is clearly not marketed for me. I do liek funny movies and this, well, this doens;t seem to cut it. I remember seeing this preview before GI.Joe and immediately called out that Tyler Perry had his hands in this in some capacity and I was spot on. So, after all of that this movie doesn’t look terrible but it doesn’t look very interesting as well. It is the same basic formula as every other fish out of water movie. The only curious development is that David Alan Grier appears to have abandoned his normal shtick and plays the straight man. So yeah save the cash and wait for TBS.

Star Trek Into Darkness- May 16, 2013

Ok have you  seen the previews for this? It is worthless even doing a write up. It is going to do huge business. Where the first Star Trek in this new series was a gigantic surprise this one is going to be met with huge expectations and for the looks of the preview it will meet those lofty expectations. Just go see this n the largest format theatre you have in town. Doing anything less will be a mistake. Speaking of mistakes, apparently IMDB has some spoilers posted for this flick so avoid it unless you like having things ruined ahead of time. Total must see flick.

Fast and the Furious 6- May 24, 2013

Are you kidding? If you have read this site or listened to any of our audios this movie has been mentioned over and over. What is there not to like about the preview and recently the series? Cool cars, hot chicks, big action and no grip on reality? Seriously? They pull down a carrier plane with three automobiles and then another car bursts out of the nosecone of the carrier plane? This is totally impossible but it is also impossibly fun to watch. Oh, and a tank running mad over an expressway running over anything in it way? Yes please. This is my most anticipated movie of the summer with “The Man of Steel” being a close second.

The Hangover Part III- May 24, 2013

Look The Hangover II was unneeded sequel for a successful movie. It had its moments but broke no new ground but it made a lot of money. So, to no surprise they are finishing the “trilogy” with The Hangover III. The review is just meh. We get the same basic premise but this tie Doug is straight up kidnapped while the rest do their thing. So yeah nothing is different except for the loss of memory? Sigh, fortunately this movie still has a load of talent and with the edition of John Goodman got even better. This is a real hit and miss on the list. I’ll be seeing it since I enjoyed the other movie but for those that didn’t it is a definite wait for home movie.

After Earth- May 31, 2013

Seriously? Have you seen the marketing for this movie? Listen to the trailer for some impressive dialogue. Also, why the hell are they describing the action with a voiceover when a set of fully functioning eyes describes the action in much closer detail? One thing that was left out of the trailer is actually the most important aspect of this movie. Written and directed by…….M. Night Shyamalan. Yeah totally skip this one.
