Jeremy’s Blog: First Person Perspective of The Streak Ending

timthumb.php

Witnessing the end of the Streak was the literally, yes I mean literally, a top five moment in my life. It wasn’t that I was against the Streak or disliked the Undertaker. Quite the contrary actually; the Streak was one of WWE’s greatest creations whether it was intentional or not. It was on the border of becoming more important than the actual WrestleMania event. If it had to end it needed to end in spectacular fashion and it did.

Not one person in the Superdome expected the streak to end. As The Undertaker made his entrance my girl said ‘If Undertaker wins I am going to be really annoyed.” Kevin and I responded with the same sentence; “Be prepared to be annoyed.” We couldn’t have been more wrong but yet being wrong was never so satisfying.

At first the end of the match seemed botched. From our vantage point it appeared as if the referee accidently continued his count and slapped the mat for a three. It appeared as if he was waving his arms back and forth calling off his count. I was so stunned with the three count I don’t recall hearing the bell ring immediately after the count.

After watching the match on YouTube, since the WWE app doesn’t work on the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, it was clear the referee counted three and called for the bell. His arm motion was to make sure the match was called as finished and to ensure Brock Lesnar did no further damage to The Undertaker. There is really no explanation on how the scene could be viewed so radically different other than denial.

WWE perfectly milked the situation. There was no music playing to signify the victor let alone that the match had ended. There was no over the top celebration by Brock Lesnar. He perfectly sold the length and the physical nature of the match. Paul Heyman entered the ring but didn’t jump up and down in celebration. From our seats and our view of the ring it simply looked like he was in the ring to explain to Brock that the match finish was botched and they were stalling

There were no replays of the pin fall in the Superdome. The crowd was left waiting for some sort of result and the time passed slowly. Even though on television it was a mere 30 seconds in person those 30 seconds felt like minutes. Finally the wait came to a screeching halt when the video screens displayed the historic 21-1.

It had to be the most significant if shortest groan in history. There was no loud gasp. There was no screaming. There was no fainting, well, at least not around us. There was just silence. Of course there were a few of us cheering and clapping but that wasn’t done to be the cool kids in the crowd. I cheered and clapped with a strong vigor because I had no idea what do to with myself.

We had taken for granted the fact that in a field where everything is predetermined that the crowd really doesn’t know the outcomes. The finishes of WrestleMania 30 seemed obvious. The smart fan had it all figured out and gave this match no chance. This includes this very sites contributors. There was no way The Undertaker’s streak was coming to an end plain and simple.

The crowd eventually tried to chant “bullshit” but it never caught on. The energy in the building had been buried in an avalanche of shock. All of the preconceived notions of knowing it all were gone. Not one person considered the fact that Brock would win and now that he had there was nothing but a mass mental sort circuit to process what had just happened.

It was such an incredible sight to behold. It was a powerful moment. It was so shocking it made us all feel bad for the divas match that was up next.

There will be arguments and debate for a long time about whether or not The Undertaker should have lost. The fact though is that it provided one of the most memorable and entertaining moments for it audience. It has now made the fans guess at all turns now. If anything, the end of the streak gave us all that much. -Jeremy

Wrestlemania XXX Preview: Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan

batista-orton-bryan

Jeremy & Kevin are starting this show off astonishingly by ignoring the possibility of HHH being in this match. Their medium is working on the internet so if it breaks when HHH wins the first match, at least people won’t get to hear this podcast as they make asses out of themselves. They first grapple with separating the build up for Batista’s return, his subsequent turn for the better into a heel then his gripe with Randy Orton. How has Orton looked with his on and off relationship with the Authority? Is he the longest reigning transitional champion ever as Shahid suggested several weeks ago? When did this feud get clarity and finally start moving towards a match worthy of the slot of main event at Wrestlemania? Will Daniel Bryan have more left in his tank than a notoriously poorly conditioned Batista? How good has the chemistry been between Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton in the past? Will it translate when Batista is in the ring? If you thought our predictions for the last match were earth shattering, wait until we blow up the universe with the final predictions!

Wrestlemania XXX Preview: The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Andre The Giant Battle RoyalJeremy & Kevin start the second half of their Wrestlemania previews with a look at a match announced by Hulk Hogan, the Andre The Giant Battle Royal. He didn’t announce what the prize was for winning. The WWE hasn’t announced anything in the time since then. So does it matter if Big Show wins? Or will he get to continue his losing ways? Does it matter that Dolph Ziggler has been on a winning streak? How about Big E Langston who isn’t defending the Intercontinental Title? Could a returning Rey Mysterio beat the odds again? Will Kofi Kingston get to be a spot monkey? Will Sheamus Brogue Kick everyone out of the ring? Will one of the mystery guests win the Battle Royal? Is anyone speculating on who will be in the vacant spots? Jeremy & Kevin’s big question of this show though is, why are some of these other jokers getting a Wrestlemania bonus if they can’t crack one of the main television shows? Shouldn’t the over talent want an even larger slice of the pie? Both of yours hosts would so click on the link below for something we won’t earn a dime off.

WrestleMania XXX Preview: Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena

20140221_MatchPreview_CenaBray_LIGHT_HPJeremy & Kevin are here to talk about well, you see the title and picture so they’re here to talk about John Cena taking on Bray Wyatt. As usual the main question of these shows is how has the build up been for this match? Was Daniel Bryan supposed to stay in the Wyatt Family until Wresltemania? Did CM Punk leaving throw that story line off? Did that win help Bray Wyatt earn much needed in ring credibility? Has he earned more of it since then? How awkward did it look when he gave Sister Abigail’s Kiss to the Big Show? They wonder whether Luke Harper or Erick Rowan will be a factor which is when Jeremy goes off on people for just now noticing Harper’s in ring prowess. Does Harper actually have more in ring credibility since the head of the family spent quite a bit of time in a rocking chair instead of wrestling? Wyatt has gotten some wins under his belt of late but is it enough to take on someone with the pedigree of John Cena? Speaking of Cena, how scared should he be that someone put a sheep’s mask on him? Jeremy & Kevin have a special week set up for everyone. After taking a year off of doing match by match previews for Wrestlemania, they’re back at it again this year because they will be attending the event. They start with a match that has already been pushed to the pre-show, the defense of the Tag Team Titles by the Usos against The Real Americans, Rybaxel and Los Matadores. Let’s start with the obvious fault in this show, who predicted that this match would stay on the main card when they recorded over the weekend? What reasoning was given because this match had pre-show written all over it? Don’t worry, Jeremy & Kevin do get around to wondering how the tag team division went from humming along for the first time in years to becoming part of the pre-show especially since the Usos finally got their big win over the New Age Outlaws. Does anyone know how Los Matadores got into this match? For that matter, how did Rybaxel get in it? Who else has noticed that Jack Swagger is winning all of a sudden? Is it just a build up for their break up after Wrestlemania? Your tag team of Jeremy & Kevin end with their predictions for who wins this match. Click on the link below.

Stunt Granny Conversation: The Walking Dead – Season 4 – A

the-walking-dead-terminusJeremy:  So we getting in to this? Good show but I get the feeling it won’t be the most well received for a season finale.

Kevin:  I was going to start from the end but I think that’s a mistake. Although I can’t avoid saying, I thought there was a lot to be debated at the end.
Jeremy:  OK lets start there. What you getting at?
Kevin:  Rick and crew come in, are a little too skiddish, start shit n someone else’s “house”, Terminus doesn’t try to kill them and only directs them to a train car and then Rick wants “Show them who they’re screwing with.” Asshole, it’s their place. You voluntarily came into it. They are allowed to screw with you especially if they do it in a non-violent way.
Jeremy:  They just went through a battle at the prison. They also just encountered a roaming group of viscous, murderous rapists. Their guard has to be up. Seeing that they had the clothes of your friends on and then lie to you about it gives you the leeway to be an asshole.
The whole not trying to kill them thing, um, you did see the flayed skeleton pile right?
Kevin:  No, I didn’t see that. But they did intentionally shoot around them instead of just killing them. I was wondering if Terminus uses the train car as a cooling off method knowing that everyone coming in has had a traumatic experience like Rick & crew so they use it to help people readjust.
Jeremy:  I thought the same thing until I wondered why they are wearing and using their clothes and accessories. Would seem to me that if they were letting them cool down you wouldn’t steal their belongings. It was obvious they were guiding them somewhere and they even mentioned it while running. Also, when running you could hear someone yelling in one of the containers.
Kevin:  Definitely missed the yelling part. Are you talking about other containers than the one with Glenn & company in? It was a little strange to borrow someone’s stuff and use it but again, why not kill them already? If it’s their ploy to lure you in by saying everyone is welcome, it has worked so just eliminate them. Why feed them or even keep them around because someone could hatch a plan of revenge.

Stunt Granny Audio Show #253

Fanning Yourself With MoneyJeremy & Kevin start the show off by talking about Charlotte’s mayor being picked up by the FBI on bribery charges. What exactly was he taking bribes for? And is his wife in deep trouble too? Will she have something to help sell her fellow prisoners? They finally get around to talking about wrestling by talking about the ratings on Impact Wrestling and Total Divas. Does it matter that TNA lost to the Divas even though they’re on different networks and days of the week? Why are people still checking out the ratings by the quarter hour? What does the swing in ratings mean about the hard core audience? One person who wasn’t a factor in the ratings this week on Raw was Daniel Bryan. Was it good that he was selling his beating so close to Wrestlemania? Is there an expectation to see wrestlers no matter how much of a beat down they have received? How could Daniel Bryan benefit from being off this week? Did HHH & Stephanie take advantage of his absence to heel it up? Jeremy & Kevin move along to talking the build up for Brock Lesnar versus Undertaker. Why does Undertaker always get the upper hand in their exchanges? Doesn’t that cement what everyone already thinks, that the Undertaker will win his 22 straight match? Why is the WWE concentrating on building up Undertaker when they need to build up Brock as good enough to break the streak? The Undertaker is definitely near the end of his career, but is Christian also with his most recent injury? How long has Christian been back from TNA? Has Christian had a Hall of Fame career? Who does the WWE have to replace him? Find out the answer to these questions and more when you click on the link below!

Stunt Granny Conversation: The Tag Titles and The Andre the Giant Battle Royal

You are the first Diva ever in Cannes.

You are the first Diva ever in Cannes.

Since I am going to be at Detroit Red Wings vs Columbus Bluejackets game tonight, we decided to give you a little sneak peek into planning at Stunt Granny HQ.

Kevin:  So, are you with me that we could preview UT/Brock, the Divas and Shield vs The Old Guys?

Jeremy:  Divas and shield vs old guys for sure. They need to do something with Brock next week. If not, this build up is absolutely terrible. I would pause on recording that one.

Kevin:  That’s fine. Just so we can knock some of them out of the way this week.

Jeremy:  Right. The tag match has to change. I can’t imagine it is just that lackluster garbage
Kevin:  Do you mean the 6 man match or what crap sandwich the Usos are left with?
Jeremy:  Usos. Just thrown together.
Kevin:  What is their match? They taking on the Real Americans? With 3 baby faces in the match, a heel and a heel manager?
Jeremy:  Rybaxel. Yup……Rybaxel.  Just to make sure you understand. Rybaxel.
Kevin:  Good gravy. I just don’t understand building up the division then tearing it down a month later.
Jeremy:  It is going to get changed. Rybaxel got bitched right after.
Kevin:  I must not have been paying attention. Who do you think should be in the tag match to spice it up? I’d stick with the Real Americans simply because you’ll be featured more in a match than a 20-30 man schmooze.
Jeremy: Yeah Real Americans are a no brainer really. They have nothing going on. The inevitable breakup storyline seems to be cooled just like The Shield’s.
Kevin:  Are the Usos or Rybaxel in the Battle Royal now?
Jeremy:  No, they pulled out. They need to make the Battle Royal worth something.
Kevin:  You get an Andre the Giant statue. How dare you insinuate that they need something more!
Jeremy:  Sigh, last time they had that was WM 4 and Bret hart smashed the winners trophy.
Kevin:  Everyone gets a trophy in sports today! Wrestling isn’t for children. What happened to the gold old days when a battle royal meant challenging for the IC Title.

Jeremy:  Not a bad idea really.
Kevin:  It has struck me as odd that the Big E Langston, the IC Champ, is one of the center pieces of that match. It’s a perfect 4 way match in the making if Cesaro had split off the Real Americans and maybe Roman Reigns had the Shield parted ways. Granted, I was expecting a three way match out of them before their present story popped up.

Jeremy:  Yes it felt like Shield was going triple threat route fo the US title. The battle royal is just a way to get everyone on the shwo but tis time it sounds more important
Kevin:  Complete brain fart that I didn’t think that match would be for the US Title.
Jeremy:  They focused on his lack of defenses and then Ambrose and Reigns getting in to a pissing match about who was better. It seemed obvious.
Kevin:  “The Architect of the Shield” Seth Rollins kept trying to keep them together. I got a bit of a kick when Mitchell Cool said that the powers to be should schedule more matches for Ambrose.
Jeremy:  Convenient excuses for their forgetful booking which is really what this Battle Royal is.

Stunt Granny Conversation: The Walking Dead – Season 4 – Us

the-walking-dead-season-4-episode-15-UsJeremy:  So yeah, an empty Train Station growing Sunflowers? Every thing must be ship shape in there.

Kevin:  There’s got to be a catch. I’m not even sure they’ll reveal what it is in the season finale next week. My bet is on a cliff hanger to end the final episode.
Jeremy:  Oh for sure. I mean where are all the people? Chick grilling in the middle of nowhere? Plus Mary came off really creepy.
Kevin:  Yes she did. I was expecting some more hostility in some form as they walked through guns ready to go. Nothing happened though.
Jeremy:  Yeah the high security of an unlocked fence. Nothing screams safe like a chain just wrapped around a chain link fence. I know there is one episode to go this season but they can’t make them this dumb.
Kevin:  I’d have to think they aren’t simply because of all of the vegetables being grown and the fact that zombies weren’t anywhere to be seen.
Jeremy:  I would expect their guard to be high. They have lost both Hershel’s house and the prison. I also remember Woodbury had a similar area where they fought the walkers.
Kevin:  I would expect that they will pull out a new twist on the defense. Everyone seems to have a new bag of tricks.
Jeremy:  Yeah at least someone in the group reached the place. The episode did  a lot even if it didn’t seem like it. Almost felt like a first episode of a season instead of a second to last of the season episode.
Kevin:  They started to tie everything together so I’m not sure how anyone would think that episode didn’t do a lot. 2 of the groups found each other and we found out for sure that the gang Daryl is with are the ones who wondered into the house where Rick, Carl and Michonne were. I know we assumed that.

Stunt Granny Conversation: The Walking Dead – Season 4 – The Grove

Walking-Dead-The-Grove

Kevin: There was some rough stuff in The Walking Dead last night.

Jeremy:  So, um, that was a lot of fun.

Kevin:  Yeah, this half season has been a real cheer ’em set of episodes.
Jeremy:  They answered a lot of questions with this episode as it pertained to feeding the walkers and dissecting the rabbit. Seemed like a cop out but it worked as it pertained to Lizzie being cuckoo.
Kevin:  I remember our speculation last year for who exactly was at fault for the mice and the killings and we got firm answers to both of those questions. And wow, Lizzie was off of her rocker. Wouldn’t you expect that more out of kids in a way? We’ve seen plenty of adults go batty but not many kids.
Jeremy:  I watched the replay and on second view the girl was so broken. She didn’t understand why Carol was upset when she killed her sister. All she said was she was sorry for pointing a gun at her. It sounds like she was this way before she was introduced to the audience.
Kevin:  It does seem like she was already which is weird considering how big of a plot point it was. Wouldn’t you want to explore that a little more or was the mystery the only reason to go that route?
Jeremy:  I figure having her world fall apart with walkers and then parents being murdered or eaten by walkers would do it. he breakdown was enough for me. I was openly hoping both kids got killed off. They were both so annoying at the beginning of episode.
Kevin:  I wasn’t rooting for them to die but I wasn’t buying the gigantic differences in the children in how they handled it. And why exactly is Carol wanting the not crazy one to shoot a deer? I understand teaching her to kill zombies but there’s no need for her to take out a deer at 8.
Jeremy:  I was lost on that at first but then she was trying to show her that you can and have to in some way kill something that is alive. It was about survival at that point. She figured out the walker part so that was the next step. her hippie attitude towards things was infuriating. You lost flower child , get on with it.
