Stunt Granny Interview Series: N8 Mattson

“Amazing” N8 Mattson (@AmazingN8 on Twitter) became my first guest for a round of wrestlers from Pro Wrestling Ohio. Mattson starts by recapping the history of his former lackey Ben Fruith and his current partner in the Sons of Michigan, Benjamin Boone. One half of the tag team champions then talks about the Sons of Michigan’s Tag Team Title defense in an elimination match against Aeroform (Flip Kendrick & Louis Lynden), The Homeless Handicapped Connection (Hobo Joe & Gregory Iron) and Brian Castle & Brian Bender at Wrestlelution 4: Overdrive, which is August 7th at Jacobs (Formerly Nautica) Pavilion in Cleveland, OH. Find out what he thinks of all of these teams and his star appearance on Man Vs. Food in Detroit and more.

N8 Mattson Interview

Stunt Granny Audio Show #149.5

Yeah it’s another one of those half a shows you all love. Jeremy and Kevin give you some wrestling talk and you’ll enjoy it for sure. They talk over Gail Kim and her Twitter comments. Is she full of shit? Did she call out creative or is the evil internet making more of a story than need be? Whatever happened to women’s wrestling? The boys get around to talking Pro Wrestling Ohio. They discuss their use of Kevin Nash and how they have been able to adapt to losing talent. There is also some frank talk on certain business practices by other organizations that shouldn’t be much of a surprise but , well, you have to listen.

Stunt Granny Audio #149 and a half

PWO – Season 4 – Episode 18

Kevin Nash will take on someone who kind of stole his nick name. find out who it is by clicking the read more button.

Joe Dombrowski & Aaron Maguire pop on the creen first. dombrowski reminds us that Kevin Nash will be appearing at Wrestlelution 4: Overdrive. He also reminds us that Johnny Gargano is going to call out his mystery attacker. N8 Mattson versus Jason Bane is up first for the PWO title. This entrance is taking too long for Mattson. Dombrowski informs us that Bobby Beverly will face three challengers (Shiima Xion, Jason Gory & Michael “The Bomber” Facade) at Wrestlelution for his TV Title. Pedro De Lucca does the formal introductions. Dombrowski points out that Krimson and Bane haven’t come face to face yet as Mattson stalls at the beginning of the match. Bane dominates with power early. Mattson takes over with cheap shots and rope chokes. Mattson went for a suplex but Bane reversed it. Krimson stood at the top of the ramp. Bane started yelling at him. Mattson blasted him from behind which sent him to the floor. Krimson came down, said something to him then walked to the back. Mattson went outside the ring. Bane stops a head slam on the ring apron then does it to Mattson. The action moved back into the ring. After a choke, Mattson locked in a sleeper. The referee does the arm dop routine.  Mattson got caught by Bane doing a spring board cross body. Bane lifted him into F5 position. Mattson wiggled out and ran the ropes and got caught with a spine buster. That scored Bane the victory.

Analysis: Solid match but I thought Mattson got the short end of the stick. He should have been able to hang in there longer. I’m not sure why he couldn’t kick out of something most people do in a Bane match. You knew he was a high end jobber in this situation either way. Score: +1.

“The Megastar” Marion Fontaine mocked the Kevin Nash announcement. He said that Justin LaBar still has a worthless opinion. Fontaine is actually in the wrestling business so he has friends who that will stand up for him. Fontaine said he has an ace up his sleeve and “It’s going to be a big one.” Analysis: Solid short promo. A Good tease and better set up for announcement than last week. Score: +1.

Shiima Xion was dressed like a B-Boy and held the mic upside down. He talked about last week’s match. He talked about the four way match at Wrestlelution. He said Facade & Gory are like fan boys who can’t get away from him. He said Beverly tries to be exactly like him. He said he demands his destiny at Wrestlelution and will capture the PWO TV Title. Analysis: Wow, did he look like a douche bag. The conviction was fine but he needed more time to elaborate on the opponents a bit more. Score: 0.

PWO – Season 4 – Episode 5

Guess who got pushed even more this week? The key is the picture above. I'm so tricky.

Shima Xion returned to PWO for the first time since July. Xion ran down the crowd then went over his blinding by Michael Facade, who was just returning the favor (Go back and check the PWO archives from last year for the whole history). Xion challenged Facade to a match at Pressure Rising, which is scheduled for February 20th now. Jason Gory was Xion’s opponent.  Dombrowski notes that these two have tagged together and feuded against one another in other leagues around the area. Gory took control with some arm drags early. Gory head scissored Xion onto the ramp.  Gory hit a flip dive over the top rope onto the outside. Xion kicked Gory in the face from his back. Dombrowski pimped Wrestlezone while Maguire pimped Stunt Granny. Nice. Xion slapped on a reverse chin lock. Dombrowski was harping on Gory wanting to go to the top in PWO quickly.  Gory gave Xion a springboard Code Breaker. He followed it up with a sunset flip for a two count. Xion flipped Gory and gave him a face buster. Xion super kicked Gory then gave him a snapmare driver. They abruptly cut to commercials.

Analysis: Evidently Facade was one of the gentlemen who couldn’t make it because of the snow storm that made this taping a little funky. It’s fine for them to pus the match up until later because it seemed like it was happening too soon anyway since they have a long history against each other. I’m not sure why Dombrowski was pushing Gory as much as he was. He better be sticking around for the rest of the season or else it’s wasted effort. The match was well wrestled. Score: +1.

Nicki (I’ve been spelling it wrong for 2 years now) Valentino came to the ring wearing a Superman shirt, a fanny pack and zebra striped trunks. That’s a really strange combination. Matthew Justice was his opponent. Valentino was going over his move list. Justice clamped on a headlock. Valentino tossed Justice out of the ring. Valentino got thrown into the outside railing. Justice hit a suicide dive. Justice clotheslined Valentino hard. Valentino gave Justice a Russian Leg Sweep and flipped into a two count. Valentino high kneed Justice then gave him a rear chin lock.  Justice assaulted Valentino power offense ending with a power slam. Valentino gave Justice a double underhook suplex. Justice got both his boots into Valentino’s face when he came off the top rope. Justice shoulder blocked Valentino into the corner. Valentino pulled Justice down by the hair after he had been lifted up on Justice’s shoulders. Justice got a three count from a Jack Hammer.

PWO – Season 3 – Episode 25

Is that Michael "The Bomber" Facade? Find out after the jump.

The show started with Johnny Gargano coming into the arena. Jason Bane stopped him and told him he wasn’t welcome. Bane said at least the people that are coming after him are at least doing it without attacking him from behind. Gargano pleaded that he wasn’t the guilty party. Bane threw Gargano’s luggage and told him to dress in the hallway. Gargano looked mad but composed himself quickly.

Analysis: Great way to start the show. Not right into a match or a replay as has been the case recently. Good work from both guys especially Bane who is the locker room leader. Score: +1.

The first match was for the number one contender status for the TV Title held by “Amazing” N8 Mattson. Michael “The Bomber” Facade took on “Omega” Aaron Draven. Facade missed a charge into the corner. Draven walked the ropes and executed a head scissors. Facade was outside the ring and Draven gave him a huracanrana.  Facade took out Draven’s legs while he was on the apron. Facade hit a spinning heel kick for a two count.  Facade gripped Draven in a chin lock.  Facade got in a standing shooting star press. Facade missed on an Arabian Moonsault. Draven hit a spring board leg drop but couldn’t capitalize. Draven enziguiried Facade. Facade got a two count from a German suplex. Facade took off his gi (More smoothly than normal). Facade went to the top rope but was stopped by Draven. “Omega” took control and hit a Flux Capacitor for the victory.

PWO – Season 3 Episode 23

The Romans of the Decadence by Thomas Couture. Yep, I'm being an art dork again. Will Dawn Decadence make it past this episode of Pro Wrestling Ohio?

They showed a replay of the end of last week’s show, the match between “Amazing” N8 Mattson & “M-Dogg 20” Matt Cross. They then showed footage from after they went off air. An old guy came and presented N8 Mattson with a trophy. Mattson gave the old guy a hard time about being from Ohio. Mattson said the sooner he gets out of Ohio, the better. Mattson jumped into Benjamin Boone’s arms.

Joe Dombrowski hyped the main event which was the Homeless & Handicapped Connection against Sex Appeal. Eric Ryan came to the ring with “The Rock Show” Earnie Ballz and Corey Winters. Isaac Montana was his opponent. Montana locked in an arm bar after an arm drag. Aaron Maguire suggested that Ryan & Winters not listen to Ballz because he’s not working well as a manager.  Ryan bailed out of the ring after a drop kick. Montana went to the top rope and splashed both Ryan & Winters. Dombrowski said that a twenty man gauntlet match would determine the number one contender after e match between Johnny Gargano and N8 Mattson happens.  Ryan caught Montana charging in with a back elbow. He then block bustered Montana. Winters attacked Montana while Ryan distracted the referee.  Ryan slammed Montana then missed on a second rope moonsault.  Montana spine bustered Ryan. Earnie Ballz told Ryan to go for a pile driver but he went for a verta-breaker. Ryan got the win. Ballz and Ryan started bitching at each other.

Analysis: The match was solid. The storyline with Ballz being a bad manager is weird especially since Ryan & Winters weren’t winners before they joined with Ballz. Someone has got to be on TV to lose. Score: +1.

The Sons of Michigan were in the back. Boone acted irritated but Mattson told him that at least one of them won the tournament. Mattson went on to say Boone tried hard and he respected him. Mattson said that he has another chance at a title shot in the gauntlet match. Mattson assured Boone that he’d give him a title shot after he beat Gargano. Mattson then called in Ben Fruth because he was disappointed in him. Matson said he doesn’t associate with losers. Fruth was still carrying around a flyer looking for Mike Tolar. Mattson said he was giving him another opponent, Jason Bane, because they needed the $50,000 reward. Mattson said he’s going to be a dual champion and he’s going to take the belts back to Michigan.

PWO – Season 3 – Episode 22

Will "M-Dogg 20" Matt Cross or N8 Mattson win the chance to take on Johnny Gargano?

The opening contest was Brian Bender against Jason Bane. Aaron Maguire said that Bender has “$50,000 Why” he should take on Bane even though it hadn’t worked out well before. Bane tackled Bender who is normally the strong guy in his matches. Bane slammed Bender hard. He followed with some forearms and a clothesline. Bane hit a nice looking t-bone suplex.  Bender caught Bane charging into the corner with a knee. Bender locked in a front chancery. Bender went to the top rope and got hit in the gut as he leaped off of it. Bane “Bainlined him” for the victory. Corey James, a new comer, tried to collect the bounty but was power bombed for his punishment.

Analysis: Good segment that gives Bane a win over an opponent his size. Joe Dombrowski noted that he’s lost 100 lbs. in the last couple of years. I think moving down to 265 made him a better wrestler over that time. Score: +1.

They replayed the Benjamin Boone vs. “M-Dogg” Matt Cross match from the previous week.

Benjamin Boone was accompanied to the ring by Ben Fruth. Dombrowski listed the indignities that Fruth has had to endure under Tolar & now the Sons of Michigan. Isaac Montana was his opponent. He wore an Ohio State shirt to the ring to suck up to the fans. They did a skit trying to get the fans to cheer for OSU and against Michigan. Boone laid in some heavy forearms in the corner. Boone whipped him to the other corner and clotheslined him into the new corner.  Montana chased Fruth around ring side and was caught with a clothesline by Boone. Boone splashed Montana.  Montana fought back with some forearms and clotheslines of his own. Montana caught Boone with a pair of drop kicks. Montana missed the frog splash. Boone hit “The Bear Trap” DDT which is a bear hug into a DDT. As Boone celebrated, “Omega” Aaron Draven hit him with a chair in the back. Draven went to the top rope and hit a double stomp. Draven then motioned for a title belt referring to his former status as TV Champion which is held by the leader of the Sons of Michigan, N8 Mattson.
