Stunt Granny Audio Show#248

That's nice. Now when is he leaving?

That’s nice. Now when is he leaving?

Can you believe it’s time for another edition of Stunt Granny Audio?! Well, you better believe it, you dummy, because it totally is! This time around, Kevin and Dusty guide you through the latest and greatest happenings in the world of professional wrestling. Jay Lethal had some stuff to say, but really it was just an excuse for everyone to call him an ass goblin and talk about CM Punk. Was Punk really being treated unfairly in the booking? Was it an insult to book him against Triple H at Mania? Would he fit in to the current ROH scene? Or worse, TNA? How does WWE see Punk in the grand scheme of things?

They then move on to talk about Daniel Bryan and how his YES chant is catching fire across the globe. Many sports teams are picking up on it. Bryan could be a breakout superstar in the business because of this whole thing. Also, what is stopping the Miz from going any higher up the card? Dusty makes a bold prediction about the Miz as well. Also, there is discussion about Ethan Carter III in TNA. He was given the opportunity a lot of wrestlers would kill for with this gimmick, but can he carry the weight? All this and a whole lot more nonsense that you’ll have to hear to believe, so hear it already.

@PrimeWrestling Closes It’s Doors…For Now

fear

I saw a tweet from Prime Wrestling that I had been fearing. They had an official statement from Joe Dombrowski about their product. If you want to read the full statement, go here. These are the highlights for me though.

In the beginning of 2013, Fox Sports acquired SportsTime Ohio, the network we aired on since 2007. Formerly independently owned, STO was undergoing a slow transformation into a more corporate environment. With that change came new policies, rules, regulations and requirements. One of those requirements, in the form of an insurance policy, would have more than doubled our annual budget for producing a television show. By the end of July 2013, the new network structure was in place, and PRIME Wrestling was temporarily pulled from the airwaves until these new requirements could be met.

I’m glad we don’t have to keep an insurance policy for Stunt Granny. Granted, if it doubled our budget, we’d still be at $0.00 so we could afford it.

With that in mind, and a heavy heart, it is my duty to make public & official for the first time, that Wrestlelution 6 on October 20 of 2013 was the last scheduled PRIME Wrestling live event for the foreseeable future.

I had missed the original airing of the show because of a busy weekend and I had planned to review it the following week and talk about it with my usual partner in crime for all matter Prime Wrestling Dan Kuester. Unfortunately, I saw the writing on the wall with many people (Benjamin Boone, Aaron Maguire, Johnny Gargano and even Joe Dombrowski among them) essentially writing a eulogy for Prime Wrestling before it became official today.

I’m very proud of Wrestlelution 6. I feel it was one of our strongest events ever, if not the strongest. It was an incredible “final chapter” for a company and for everyone who was such an important part of it. For the final story to be told to be the handful of members of the “PRIME Foundation” re-claiming the legacy of what they had built from the forces working against them was beautiful and poetic. All usual merchandise shills aside, I really hope all of you who have ever supported us watch that show, be it on DVD or digitally, through us or Smart Mark Video or anywhere else. It means a lot to me, and I hope it means a lot to all of you.

Prime Wrestling does mean a lot to me which is why I’m sure to throw in some money to watch this last show finally and review it instead of being a chicken. It means a lot to me because I started writing the review back during their first season on Sportstime Ohio when we were on the Pro Wrestling Torch. Wade Keller had asked all of us in The DEJ Audio Experience to also do a weekly column. I happened to catch this program and since I hadn’t had much writing experience, I figured a recap was an easy way to bang out a column. We decided to found Stunt Granny because of content issues at the Torch. When the second season of Pro Wrestling Ohio started, Aaron Maguire emailed us at the Torch to ask where the reviews had gone. Realizing we could pull in an audience looking for reviews of their product, I started reviewing PWO on Stunt Granny. That has lasted five years and I’ve met a lot of great people who were connected with the product. Many of the wrestlers would talk to me about my reviews, positive or negative, at the meet and greets which was gratifying to hear. They were also offering of their time to come on our podcasts. More voices could have been heard on this site had I not dropped the ball and forgotten to book them. I have always thought of it as a quality league that was helping up and comers and with a few of them (Zema Ion, Ethan Carter III and Madison Rayne in TNA, Colin Delaney in a short stint with the WWE and now Luke Harper of the Wyatt Family) making it to the national stage. I think a few deserve more than they have gotten already. I’m looking at you, Johnny Gargano. I will miss this product, even if it isn’t as slick as WWE or TNA, and so will our page. To all of you involved, good luck in your future endeavors. – Kevin

Stunt Granny Interview Series – @RickeyShanePage & @FairToAar of @PrimeWrestling

The Megalomaniacs started to take control of Prime Wrestling at Pressure Rising earlier this year. Part of that equation was bringing some new muscle in the form of Ricky Shane Page. This year at Wrestlelution 6: Art of War, Page will be taking on Bobby Beverly. At the announcers table or by his side, agent Aaron Maguire will be there. They combined their Megalomaniac powers on this interview. Luckily Dan & Kevin were up to asking the hard questions. How did Maguire meet Page? Why did Maguire bring Page into the Megalomaniacs? Kevin asks Ricky how it was to choke out Justin LaBar since he’s wanted to do it since LaBar joined then Pro Wrestling Ohio. Dan asks Maguire if he is worried about being assaulted at ring side since Page attacked Dombrowski earlier this year. Bobby Beverly has cost Page a pair of shots at the Prime Wrestling Title against Krimson. Does he want another shot at the title without interference? Is Johnny Gargano on his hit list since he has helped Beverly? The guys get around to asking Aaron how he feels about the other match ups that comprise the best of three series for the Prime Wrestling Commissionership. The matches are B.O.M.B. – the Brotherhood of Mustachieod Brawlers – team of Marion Fontaine & Jeremy Madrox against the Handicapped Hand Guns of Gregory Iron & Zach Gowen for B.O.M.B.’s Prime Tag Team Titles and Matt Cross taking on the man who stabbed him in the back, Matthew Justice for the TV Title. Will Marte Belle be a factor in the later match? Would Ricky be able to grow a mustache as good as Fontaine & Madrox? If the Megalomaniacs lose this series, do they have a back up plan? Will Maguire reveal that plan? Find out when you click on the link below!

Amy Weber Nude, Iowa vs Michigan, Knee Injury & Hurricane Sandy Aftermath

I couldn’t find the real deal so I borrowed from TMZ permanently.

According to TMZ, Amy Weber has released nude photos because her lap top was stolen. They were from a Playboy shoot that never made it into the sticky pages under my mattress. You might remember her from her role in JBL’s Cabinet. I had to look it up on Wikipedia to make sure one of my Sippy Time Beers hadn’t dislodged a memory of an average WWE Diva.

According to Derrick Bateman’s Twitter (by way of Prowrestling.net) he is out for an undisclosed amount of time because of another knee surgery. I bring him up because he was signed away from then Pro Wrestling Ohio about five years ago. I haven’t seen him much so I won’t critique his work but isn’t five years enough to know if a guy will cut it or not in the WWE? I know it takes a while to learn the ropes but the time frame seems like plenty. If only the WWE had enough TV time to find a spot for him when he got healthy.

Master thief Joel Luke pleaded guilty to fifth degree theft for swiping the TNA Title and thus bringing great shame to the state of Iowa. He will get two years of probation. If only he could have waited for TNA’s next trip through the state for such an opportunity. He could have stolen the new Jeff Hardy Belt and done all wrestling fans around the country a favor. Yes, even those fans that clearly spend money only on Munchos and Cheez Whiz with backpacks full of Faygo but still have enough government assistance left over to drive to Orlando from Michigan just to see that garbage company.

For those of you concerned about your Friday viewing habits because of NBC’s coverage of a Superstorm Sandy benefit concert, don’t worry, be happy. As of now, you can watch replays of one third of Raw and an hour of Smackdown starting at it’s regularly scheduled 8 PM time slot. -Kevin

@PrimeWrestling Podcast 1

Dan & Kevin are back on the Pro Wrestling Ohio, scratch that, Prime Wrestling beat. What did the guys think of the name change? Would they suggest any changes? How is Aaron Maguire tied into this story line? Is Justin LaBar still part of the company?  Is “The Megastar” Marion Fontaine the bane of LaBar’s existence or did he move on to a new feud? The guys move on to talking about the Prime Wrestling Title picture right off the bat. Matt Cross was the champion coming into the first set of Prime Wrestling tapings but was he champion when the tapings ended? Krimson was one of his challengers but did he have too much on his plate with Matt Mason to capture the belt? Jimmy Jacobs was the other challenger but was he too busy ruffling Bobby Beverly’s feathers by helping Nicki Valentino becoming second in command? Dan & Kevin talk a little comedy when mentioning the new tag team of Dan Arkham & Bryan Castle? Is one guy more entertaining than the other? Do they have good chemistry? The guys keep trucking by talking about the other part of the Dead Wrestling Society, Gory, and his on going feud with Michael Facade for the TV Title. N8 Mattson claims that the Sons of Michigan will be adding to their ranks. Is it good that Mattson is still getting TV even though he is retired? Does Benjamin Boone get back on a winning streak after Mattson’s speech? Find out that and more in this rollicking podcast when you click below!

Get Krimson on TNA television

We don’t normally cheerlead around here but in this case I am making an exception. Dixie Carter, the owner of TNA, is taking requests on her Facebook page for new indy talent to appear on Impact as part of the Gut Check garbage they are trying on Impact.  My comment got lost and will clearly go unnoticed but the thinking here is that enough people mention the same person over and over that maybe it will lead somewhere.

In this case I am requesting we stuff the ballot box, if there is one, in favor of PWO’s main star Krimson. If you aren’t familiar with his work go check it out because he is great. He has successfully aped Heath Ledger’s Joker and made it his own. Yeah the comparison is definitely easy to make but he pulls it off so effectively he deserves the chance.

Oh, and there is also the simple fact that Dixie Carter and her henchmen ripped off Krimson’s gimmick and name. If you aren’t familiar with it check this out. Yeah it is for another site but who cares. TNA made it that much harder for an Indy talent to make money due to their own lack of ideas.

So please go over to Dixie’s Facebook page and request Krimson. He deserves at least a small shot from TNA after all of the garbage they pulled on him. -Jeremy

PWO – Season 5 – Episode 13

This makes your review pointless.

Joe Dombrowski and Aaron Maguire introduce the show. Matt Cross defends the PWO Title against Bobby Beverly. “The Megastar” Marion Fontaine takes on Corey Winters. Bobby Shields with Nicki Valentino kicks the show off against Bryan Castle who didn’t have Brian Bender. The ref did the old school pat down. Shields starts with punches. Castle hip tossed Shields three times. Castle slammed him. Castle waved at Valentino. Shields attacked him from behind on the floor. Shields missed a chop and hit the post. Castle started to attack the hand. Valentino held Castle’s leg so that Shields could attack again. Shields kneed Castle in the gut. Shields choked him. Shields missed a splash. Castle put on the head band and clotheslined Shields. Castle drop kicked him. Shields got splashed. Castle low clotheslined him. Valentino distracted the ref. Shields kicked Castle in the face. He only got a two count. Shields got tossed over the rope and noggin knocked with Valentino. Castle tried to suplex Shields back into the ring but Valentino grabbed his leg. Shields countered into a splash and Valentino held the legs for the three count.

Analysis: Really good match up. Well wrestled and well executed. It protects Castle but Shields gets the win. Well done sirs. Score: +1.

Krimson tells Jason Bane that Wrestlelution was not going to be their last meeting. He says he’s been in a no DQ match with Bane and he knows what’s coming. Krimson said he learned from his mistakes and will not repeat them. Krimson tells Matt Mason to walk away before he drowns in a sea of misery and despair. Analysis: I’m just digging this dude right now. Really thoughtful evil promos. Score: +1.

Jason Bane states the stipulations in the match. He says that if he needs to become a monster to beat Krimson and will do it. Bane promises to become the most brutal of them all. Analysis: It’s a tough spot. I thought it got the point across but he followed Krimson so it feels worse than it should. He’s just not that great at mic work but Bane has improved. Score: +1.

Matt Mason said that he can’t get a response from him. Mason said that he’s going to get a hold of Krimson. Mason is calling him out on his sickness. Mason said he’s tired of Krimson trying to crush other people’s dream. Mason said that if Krimson can’t stop his own sickness, he will. Analysis: He could have used a little more pep to really nail this thing but he needs to pivot to more than an observer at this point. This promo seemed pointed that way. Score: +1.

Marion Fontaine came out first. Corey Winters tried to hype up the crowd. (They need the last venue back.) Fontaine primps to the crowd. They tied up in the corner. Fontaine broke clean. Winters backed Fontaine into the corner. He broke clean too. Winters arm dragged Fontaine and held him down with an arm bar. Dombrowski zinged Maguire. Fontaine kneed Winters. Corey yanked on Fontaine’s arm. Fontaine flipped out of the arm bar but bragged so Winters yanked on his arm multiple times. Winters flipped him onto his back. Fontaine didn’t get enough air for a leap frog. Fontaine drop kicked Winters. They redid the spot. Fontaine went for a monkey flip but Winters pulled his legs backwards and Irish whipped him. Winters super arm dragged him out of the ring. Winters nailed a cross body to the floor. Fontaine rammed Winters into the guard rail. Fontaine tossed him back into the ring. Fontaine yapped to the crowd from the apron. Winters grabbed the injured left arm but Fontaine jumped backwards. Fontaine started to work over Winters left arm. Fontaine punched him. Fontaine chin locked Winters. Winters fought out. Fontaine basement drop kicked Winters. Fontaine kicked Winters to the mat. He over shot a moonsault as noted by Dombrowski.  Winters punched him. Winters nailed an enziguri. Winters hit a Cutter. He only got a two count. Fontaine kicked Winters in the face charging into a corner. He followed it up with a super kick. Fontaine missed a spring board. Winters hit a stomach buster. He went for Sliced Bread #2 but Fontaine ducked under and held the tights for the three count. Justin LaBar orders the match restarted because of said held tights. Winters rolls up Fontaine while holding the tights which he should have seen but Dombrowski said he had turned around. Fontaine assaulted Winters after the match. Fontaine yelled at LaBar. Fontaine says he wants the tapes.

Kevin’s Blog: Almost Live, Definitely Half Assed Review of #Raw

The Frozen Diamond Face Off between Ohio State & Michigan at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

I hope you had a good weekend. I did in the fine city of Cleveland. I had some fantastic beer at the Market Garden Brewery (St. Emeric’s Stout was the best. The Pearl Street Wheat was a close second.) then I picked up some killer andouille sausage and Krakow keilbasa at the West Side Market. At night, wegot to eat at Fahrenheit. Absolutely fantastic food, highly recommended if you don’t mind dropping $25+ on a meal. We attended the game on Sunday. Michigan put a serious hurting on OSU. I was not surprised to hear (although I didn’t confirm) that Michigan has ten NHL draft picks. OSU (also not confirmed) has five draft picks. That’s a whole lot of talent on the ice. Great time if you don’t mind being outside in 25 degree temperatures. Enough about the weekend, let’s roll.

Mick Foley gets to hear the same reaction he heard when the Rock was beating the tar out of him all of those years ago with a chair since they’re in Anaheim, absolutely nothing. They are easily the worst crowd in wrestling. A Pro Wrestling Ohio crowd has a better reaction. Dolph comes down and runs down Foley. Dolph killed. Foley did a good job of playing his part. CM Punk then arrives. Punk does a good job of mixing comedy and being serious. Johnny Wooden GM kills the momentum. Jesus, this crowd actually does something but only chants “What?” Fuck Anaheim. Johnny Law says no Mick Foley in the Royal Rumble. Somehow I get the idea he’s going to get in or else they wouldn’t have floated the idea out there. Mitchell Cool & Jerry Lawler recap the dunce move of giving away the tag titles at a house show.

Rosa smokes more than the andouille sausage I bought. At least we got the footage. They have less light at their house show footage than PWO. Terrible. Of course Bourne took the pin. He’s taking the beating to start the match too. Did I mention that it’s not fair the Hunico & his man crush get stuck with a low rider bike and Epico & Primo get Rosa? The tag titles mean jack. Johnny is back in our lives. He mysteriously talks to someone. The reveal is Jericho who turns off the lights and let’s the jacket sign. OK, I’m amused by the mute act again.

Zack Ryder still gets Eve Torres. He goes serious to sell the injury and show his resolve. He can work on the facials a bit. I like the message though. Kane replay.

We got Jack Swagger before the commercial break. Ryder arrives after. How the mighty have fallen. Ryder kicks out of the Swagger Bomb. Even worse, he kicks out of a second. A third one does him in. For some reason, they give him the title. I’m confused. I love Zack and all but he’s not ready to move up the card, the usual reason for losing that title. Is he injured? Did I miss something other than the crowd going crazy for him?
