More PRIME Wrestling Defections To The WWE?

There are a number of noticeable indy wrestlers that have signed with the WWE, but I will leave those posts to someone else. According to Gerweck.net (we do source our info from other sites, sometimes) Johnny Gargano from Pro Wrestling Ohio/PRIME Wrestling  along with Dragon Gate USA & Evolve has signed with the WWE and will be heading to FCW in the near future. Good for him. Gargano was one of the better wrestlers when the promotion started about five years ago. He has worked hard on his promo to make them go from childish to a man cutting a promo which has been his biggest development.

If you read the link, there’s some other news that pertains just to PRIME Wrestling, while I knew some of the information because of my sources inside of the organization, some of the information was never passed along. It is a bit shocking to find out the owner of the company, Walt Klasinski, got convicted of sexual assault related charges. The legal trouble led to Joe Dombrowski purchasing the company and re-branding it. Klasinski’s actions don’t change my thoughts on the promotion because he was never booking for it to my knowledge and none of the wrestlers were convicted either. I think it’s a fine, paint by the numbers booking style that helps get the wrestlers over.

To get back to Gargano, one of the better parts of the transition from Pro Wrestling Ohio to PRIME Wrestling was the carry over of the story lines. Gargano came back on an episode I haven’t watched yet but he is set to take on Jimmy Jacobs for the PRIME Wrestling Title at Wrestlelution 5. His possible move to the WWE would put a giant crimp in their big event.

Like any good indy promotion, PWO/PRIME talent has been ransacked just as they start to move to the next level. Zema Ion (Shiima Xion) is now the X Division Champion in TNA. He was recently joined by Flip Cassanova (aka Flip Kendrick) in the X Division Title hunt taking each other on at Destination X this past Sunday. The WWE signed “Big Rig” Brodie Lee in March not long after he worked with Kevin Nash at Wrestlelution 4. The WWE also signed Derek Bateman in PWO’s infancy when he went by the name Michael Hutter. Gargano will have some familar faces around him, but only time will tell if he can become the Whole She Bang and the Cat’s Meow in the WWE. -Kevin

PWO – Season 4 – Episode 22

The last stand for PWO before Wrestlelution 4: Overdrive.

Bobby Beverly came out for a match to start the show. (No introductions from Joe Dombrowski & Aaron Maguire which seems a little weird now.) He is teaming with Jason Gory against Michael “The Bomber” Facade & Shiima Xion. Dombrowski & Maguire play up the tension between both teams. Facade started out against Beverly. They exchanged some basic moves. Beverly tagged in Gory after an arm drag into a corner. Gory bit Facade. Beverly took a seat on the outside. Xion blind tagged in. Gory got beat on. Facade blind tagged back in and got a two count from a top rope cross body. Xion came back in and tried to top Facade’s offense. Xion slapped Facade for another tag. Gory choked Facade then put him in camel clutch without the arms draped. Beverly tagged in. Beverly chicken wing suplexed Facade. Jaw breaker on Beverly gave Facade an opening but Xion was sitting on the ring apron. An Atomic Drop then a leg lariat by Facade on Beverly got Xion to step up. Beverly rolled out of the way of a super kick by Xion which connected on Facade. Xion got caught with a middle rope moonsault. Gory came in illegally and hit his finisher, Trepidation. Beverly tossed Gory out of the ring and got the pin.

Analysis: Good match. Lots of action that show cased everyone and gave a good push to the champion who just lost the previous week. Score: +1.

They threw it to a package of Johnny Gargano against “M-Dogg 20” Matt Cross from Wrestlelution last year. Gargano said there are two types of people in this business, friends and the ones who want to hold you down. Gargano gave a short recap of his career in wrestling and how it connected to Josh Prohibition and Cross. Gargano said he was tired of standing in Prohibition’s shadow. Gargano said that he respected Cross but he needs to stop making excuses. Gargano mentioned how Prohibition is still the same person. Gargano said he has changed in the last two years unlike Prohibition. Gargano said he’s better in the ring than anybody else, especially on at Wrestlelution. Gargano said he’s going to destroy his past to pave the way for his future. Analysis: He continues to get better on the mic. Score: +1.

Yeah it’s another one of those half a shows you all love. Jeremy and Kevin give you some wrestling talk and you’ll enjoy it for sure. They talk over Gail Kim and her Twitter comments. Is she full of shit? Did she call out creative or is the evil internet making more of a story than need be? Whatever happened to women’s wrestling? The boys get around to talking Pro Wrestling Ohio. They discuss their use of Kevin Nash and how they have been able to adapt to losing talent. There is also some frank talk on certain business practices by other organizations that shouldn’t be much of a surprise but , well, you have to listen.

PWO – Season 4 – Episode 18

Kevin Nash will take on someone who kind of stole his nick name. find out who it is by clicking the read more button.

Joe Dombrowski & Aaron Maguire pop on the creen first. dombrowski reminds us that Kevin Nash will be appearing at Wrestlelution 4: Overdrive. He also reminds us that Johnny Gargano is going to call out his mystery attacker. N8 Mattson versus Jason Bane is up first for the PWO title. This entrance is taking too long for Mattson. Dombrowski informs us that Bobby Beverly will face three challengers (Shiima Xion, Jason Gory & Michael “The Bomber” Facade) at Wrestlelution for his TV Title. Pedro De Lucca does the formal introductions. Dombrowski points out that Krimson and Bane haven’t come face to face yet as Mattson stalls at the beginning of the match. Bane dominates with power early. Mattson takes over with cheap shots and rope chokes. Mattson went for a suplex but Bane reversed it. Krimson stood at the top of the ramp. Bane started yelling at him. Mattson blasted him from behind which sent him to the floor. Krimson came down, said something to him then walked to the back. Mattson went outside the ring. Bane stops a head slam on the ring apron then does it to Mattson. The action moved back into the ring. After a choke, Mattson locked in a sleeper. The referee does the arm dop routine.  Mattson got caught by Bane doing a spring board cross body. Bane lifted him into F5 position. Mattson wiggled out and ran the ropes and got caught with a spine buster. That scored Bane the victory.

Analysis: Solid match but I thought Mattson got the short end of the stick. He should have been able to hang in there longer. I’m not sure why he couldn’t kick out of something most people do in a Bane match. You knew he was a high end jobber in this situation either way. Score: +1.

“The Megastar” Marion Fontaine mocked the Kevin Nash announcement. He said that Justin LaBar still has a worthless opinion. Fontaine is actually in the wrestling business so he has friends who that will stand up for him. Fontaine said he has an ace up his sleeve and “It’s going to be a big one.” Analysis: Solid short promo. A Good tease and better set up for announcement than last week. Score: +1.

Shiima Xion was dressed like a B-Boy and held the mic upside down. He talked about last week’s match. He talked about the four way match at Wrestlelution. He said Facade & Gory are like fan boys who can’t get away from him. He said Beverly tries to be exactly like him. He said he demands his destiny at Wrestlelution and will capture the PWO TV Title. Analysis: Wow, did he look like a douche bag. The conviction was fine but he needed more time to elaborate on the opponents a bit more. Score: 0.

PWO – Season 4 – Episode 17

The big announcement by Justin LaBar is made official. Click the read more button to find out what it is, if you didn't read my spoiler.

Justin LaBar was shown coming to the venue. He was greeted by Joe Dombrowski. He expressed his doubts about LaBar meeting face to face with Fontaine because he could get hurt. Analysis: Dombrowski is such a giant pussy. If LaBar was confronting Bane or Krimson, I’d get the concern. Anyway, I suppose if I go off about it, something is working. Plus, it does hype what will likely be the main event. Score: +1.

Aaron Maguire is back with Dombrowski announcing. Maguire was still wearing a neck brace and selling the injury from Bane. They showed LaBar pacing in the crowd and said that “The Megastar” Marion Fontaine was on his way to the building.

Shiima Xion is in a triple threat match with Jason Gory and Michael “The Bomber” Facade for the #1 contender status for the TV Title. Dombrowski ran through who beat who between these three. Facade started working over Xion while Gory stayed in the corner. Gory attacked Xion after he tossed Facade to the outside. Gory jaw jacked then executed a swinging neck breaker on Xion who rolled to the outside. Facade and Gory faced off. Facade turned the tide with an enziguri. Facade cross bodied Gory on the outside. Xion attacked Facade from behind. Maguire mentions a tid bit I missed earlier. The winner of this match takes on Bobby Beverly at Wrestlelution. Gory with a sling shot elbow. It only got a two count. Gory dropped several running leg drops. Russian leg sweep by Gory on Xion only gets two. Facade gave a spring board heel kick to Gory for two. Reality Check like move by Facade on Xion for two. Tower of Doom allows Gory to attempt pins on Facade & Xion. Several near falls on roll ups and small packages. Facade monkey flipped Xion into a huge Code Breaker by Gory. Facade saves Xion. Shiima attacked Facade. Xion hits a super Alabama Slam. (Facade had Xion’s back on his, then flipped him over power bomb/Alabama Slam style). The announcers get done bitching about all of the other goings on in PWO  to over hype a very nice match up to this point. Spring board bulldog by Facade on Gory only gets a two count. Beverly hits the ring and attacks all of them.

PWO – Season 4 – Episode 16

The beginning was a surprise.

Vic Travagliante introduced the show with no one at ring side with him. He said he was bringing positive energy to the announce booth. (I said to give him more time with Dombrowski or Maguire, not fly solo.) Vic then introduced the matches. (Not a chance in hell I keep typing his last name.)  Dombrowski was in the ring. (Ah, Vic will have a partner.) Dombrowski introduced Johnny Gargano. Dombrowski said he was glad he was back then asked how he felt. Gargano said he’s feeling as good as he ever has. Gargano said he has rehabbed the last two months and everything has grown, his mind and body. Dombrowski asked for his thoughts on losing the PWO Title. Gargano wanted to send a message to the masked man who assaulted him. Gargano told him in three weeks, the masked man should meet him in the ring. Gargano issued an open challenge for next week for anyone to test his rehabbed body.

Analysis: The wait for Gargano to come out was a little long and they didn’t quite get the reaction they wanted. The crowd is at a car show which I’m sure is good for business, but the people aren’t there specifically for the wrestling. Gargano delivered one of his more focused interviews, no John Cena like goofing around. There’s still something about the cadence of the delivery that still throws me though. I’m going to critique him more harshly than most because he’s got that much potential. Score +1.

Benjamin Boone and N8 Mattson popped on screen. Mattson said it was improbable for Gregory Iron to win the WrestleRama Rumble. He quickly remembered that the Sons of Michigan beat them for the PWO Tag Team Titles. Mattson said he’s going to make sure every body part on Iron was crippled. Boone said there was a larger matter at hand, he eliminated Jason Bane and he is dominant as Bane in wins and losses. He challenges Bane for the PWO Title. Boone said he’s going to be only the second double champion.  The Sons said they were leaving for Michigan because none of the tag team deserved a shot.

Analysis: Mattson has better delivery than Boone but I think most of it is due to experience. Boone needs to find himself in the promo department. He’s needs to go brawny guy or smart guy. He mixed them which I think made it off some. They did a great job of pointing out obvious facts hat would make one think they both have a chance at winning in singles action. Score: +1.

Shiima Xion said he should be getting a shot at gold because he beat Jason Gory and Matthew Justice. He said he was done with Facade because he has bigger fish to fry like the PWO TV Champion Bobby Beverly. Xion said Beverly is trying to be him. Xion went on to state that Beverly’s not as good looking as him and is sexier than him. Xion ended by saying that if you thought he looked good now,he’d look better with Beverly’s gold around his waste.
