Brand New Stunt Granny Audio Show Without A Name Yet #2

Godzilla-new-posterOh yes it is round two of the show without a name and it is pretty obvious what dominates the conversation. In case you haven’t heard there is a new Godzilla movie out and it is awesome. Jeremy and Shahid talk extensively about the movie. What worked? What didn’t work? Are the criticisms of the movie valid or is it just the same old same old with people whining just to whine? The obvious comparisons with Pacific Rim arise. Is it justified to even bring it up? Was Pacific Rim bad or was it exactly what it needed to be. They also disagree on Michael Bay’s Transformers movies. Yeah they suck and Shahid is wrong but he is the new guy so kid gloves were used. The boys also discuss Jeremy’s experience watching “The Amazing Spiderman 2.” When a movie is below average it helps to have some audience participation. The show rounds out with a discussion of “The Guardians of The Galaxy” preview and just how Marvel is taking a big chance on this one. It is better than last week so give this one a try OK? No seriously give it a try.

Stunt Granny Audio Movie Review: Fast & Furious 6

Fast-and-Furious-6Finally the summer movie season is upon us, well at least here at Stunt Granny since we ignored Star Trek into Darkness.  How else do you kick of the season but with the much anticipated “Fast & Furious 6” and boy did it not disappoint. Jeremy & Kevin talk about the film and its engaging plot and strong character development. They expose the underlying theme of unity and bigotry around the globe as explained through the intricacies of car racing. The guys also rant and rave about a tank murdering innocent people, a plane that rolls on a seemingly endless runway and the physics of human flight.  They discuss the expansive filmography of director Justin Lin and who is going to assume his chair for “Fast & Furious 7”. So give it a listen. It may be the most positive podcast that Stunt Granny has ever produced.

Jeremy’s Monthly Movies for May 2013

movie_nightIron Man 3- May 3, 2013

Look Iron Man 2 isn’t nearly as bad as people made it out to be. Yeah it had its flaws but then it also led us right to The Avengers so all is forgiven. The previews have been coming fast and in abundance an each one looks more badass then the next. This is the official kickoff movie for the summer season and looks like it will be well worth the money. I have the tickets already.

The Great Gatsby- May 10, 2013

I have no idea what The Great Gatsby is about and I know I should but whatever. The previews look to be the usual mess of visual and music from Baz Lurhman and that is a good thing. This is clearly geared toward gay men and women as those re the only people I have heard mention this flick as a must see. No shame in that as it will drag in a larger audience this way. It will also benefit from make good ticket sales for men dragging their women to see Iron Man 3 the week before. Possible theatre movie but not set in stone.

Peeples-  May 10, 2013

First off I am not black that I know of; so I understand this movie is clearly not marketed for me. I do liek funny movies and this, well, this doens;t seem to cut it. I remember seeing this preview before GI.Joe and immediately called out that Tyler Perry had his hands in this in some capacity and I was spot on. So, after all of that this movie doesn’t look terrible but it doesn’t look very interesting as well. It is the same basic formula as every other fish out of water movie. The only curious development is that David Alan Grier appears to have abandoned his normal shtick and plays the straight man. So yeah save the cash and wait for TBS.

The Rock kinda sorta rules

the-rock-dwayne-johnson-2013-588x400

You ever think that you just have too much going on in life and that a long vacation is what is truly in order? Well, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would probably disagree.  In fact, The Rock probably tries to come up with ways of changing the laws of science to increase the amount of seconds in a minute, minutes in an hour and hours in a day just to get more things done. Isn’t it time for The Rock to take the place f Chuck Norris as the official American badass?

Screw Chuck Norris and his lazy Total Gym physique and Just For Men beard. He has nothing on The Rock’s work ethic.  How many movies does Chuck Norris have releasing this year? Go ahead look it up? Done? Yeah he doesn’t have as many as Rock has in the next four months. Television shows? Yup, Rock beats him there as well.  In fact, Rock laps Chuck Norris on talk show appearances alone let alone having an actual scripted television program.

Sport entertainment championships? Chuck Norris never even sniffed one let alone held one after ten years of inaction. Hell Chuck Norris can’t even take a karate movie again without attaching himself to Sly Stallone’s jock. It is ridiculous. So, in order to help you all out here is a brief Rock viewing guide for the next few months just to help you keep it all straight.

SNITCH : February 22, 2013

Snitch is supposedly based on a true story so obviously it will be based off of true events. This is a Hollywood way of taking a boring story and making it way more interesting, cough, Argo.  Who knew Susan Sarandon still made movies? From the preview I can’t tell if that is Rock’s wife or friend but if it is his wife it confirms his fetish for older women both on screen and off.

G.I.JOE RETALIATION  :  March 28, 2013

All right look, the first G.I. Joe movie was offensive on every level. If they would have replaced all of the most beloved characters with retarded children and slingshots it would have made more sense and been far more compelling. This time around though it looks like they captured G.I. Joe as it was written for the comics. Ninja sword fights while repelling off a mountain? Yes please. The Rock hiding in a well while The Pit is attacked by a Cobra lead government? Sure it looks like they wiped out the entire G.I. Joe Force from the preview but then who cares? They didn’t introduce too many characters you should care about anyway. R.I.P. black Ripcord. Hopefully you find a peaceful afterlife with black Bongo the Bear.

Triple H Has A Movie

I guess since I watched the trailer for “Knucklehead,” Youtube deemed it so tat I would enjoy this piece of trash. Yes, it’s the trailer for “the Chaperone” starring Triple H. I really want to dissect this thing for you, the loyal reading public but there are really no new words to describe shit.  Expectations are so low for WWE produced, cough, films, that this was really not shocking. Triple H plays the Rock, Hulk Hogan, Vin Diesel, Jackie Chan bit of the tough guy tossed in to a suburban environment and connects with a bunch of kids. Then the bad guys show up and instead of just shooting the dumb brats they allow them to use firecrackers to distract them instead of lining them up and curb stomping them to that big kindergarten in the sky.

If there is one thing to praise in all of this it is the epic beard that Triple H sports in the first half. It doesn’t look real at all which means it probably is and is as bad as it appears. Also, look out for Yeardley Smith clearing slumming it in the hopes this ignites her career and thus she can hold up The Simpsons people for more money. I like her way better in The Legend of Billie Jean but then it was all about Helen Slater in that flick anyway. So look for this on Netflix soon. It can be set to the instant queue right next to Knucklehead and Legendary. -Jeremy
